A Place In the Rain

if it rains,
my hair will expand by absorption of water in the air.
In this case, permed hair is really convenient. It looks like it has not changed because it was already expanded from the first.

If it rains,
the bus will be behind time.
Even if the station of origin, the bus will never start at the fixed time. I had a terrible this week. I was late for office. I think Kanathu should send out special busses on rainy days.

If it rains,
I will be sleepy. I always sleepy but I will be still more sleepy on a rainy day.
"A Place In the Sun" was not to be found anywhere on this weekdays. There were "Places In the Rain” everywhere. In this season, "A Place In the Sun" doesn't always get into its stride.

According to the news on the radio, at the end of this century, the rainy season called 梅雨 will be 2 months longer than it is now owing to global warming.
August will be rainy season. I was shocked.
The news didn't explain whether the summer will be postponed or it will be disappear.
But the news said global warming will cause a increase of localized heavy rains.
And I had heard an estimate before. All the beaches in Japan will disappear in about 100 years owing to global warming.
Too bad. Summer in 100 years doesn't sound enjoyable.
Are we the last generation who knows "A Place In the Sun on the beach" ?

To my old comrade in the 1st battle

To Sumiko (Do you mind if I call your first name on my blog?)

Thank you for sending me a long e-mail in ENGLISH in this week.
Now, I don't have my private e-mail address except for the address of my cell phone.
And my company doesn't allow me sending private e-mails (but sometimes I break this rule.) So I'll reply your mail on my blog.

Do you remember? When we traveled in Europe, a Jew, a friend of yours said to us
"Sumiko is a fuel-efficient car like a car made in Japan.
But Sachiko is a gus guzzler has Mercedes engine."
Yeah, you're efficient and really clever. I couldn't travel to Germany and Austria without your help. Thank you.

And did you happen to meet Mr. M?
As you know, I didn't like him. Probably still now...
But now, I'm sure I can say him "Hello. How's it going?" without having a quarrel. Maybe...
Since we quitted our 1st stage, 4 years or more had passed.
Now I feel a longing for Nagano life, because I forgot the details of unpleasant matters that had hurt our feelings. But I never want to come back to old days.
Because my 2nd stage is much better than 1st stage.
But it is an undoubted fact that the 2nd stage is not the final stage.
Our race will never end. How do you think?
You're going to London Univ.at the end of this month. Yeah. I envy you. Some friends of mine left me and escaped overseas. They can speak English or Italian well. I couldn't go abroad to study. That's why I did go "in front of the station" (I'm sorry this catchphrase is for another school.) and I'm planning out an escape from here.
Can you believe that I look the high school I graduated EVERY morning and night?
The way to the school and the way to my office are same. I became local people, called "jimoty".
For the time being, I'm going to Netherlands to see Van Gogh and Rem koolhaas. But I don't want to see Kisho Kurokawa. I'm taking a trip to western Japan to discovery Japan ( this was JR's catchphrase.) and...
Would it be possible to meet me at the London Bridge in this summer?
And if you publish your essay or thesis, let me know.

Go west!

月島 Tsuki-shima

I went the party of Prof. J's former students last night. The party was held at Spanish restaurant in thuki-shima in Tokyo.
月島 Tsuki-shima means "moon island". What a romantic place name is! Natually, the station name is Thuki-shima. The beauty shop name is Thuki-shima. The street name is thuki-shima. I saw many "月島" in this town.
月島 was born at the month of Sumida-river in Edo period. People reclaimed land from Tokyo bay. Because of merits of this location for shipping business, there are many warehouses and factries. I seem the building had been an old warehouse until it was born again as a restaurant.
The high-ceilinged room (the height is about 3 floor) was gorgeous. The paellas in large frying-pans cooked by Spanish were beautiful. The salami was genuine. And the wines were really good.

This party is held once a year.
The friends of mine from the university seminar always enhance my motivation. They gather from all over the country.
They have pure passions about architecture.
They will do something creative.
They always give me energy.
Let’s create good spaces and preserve impressive rows of houses and stores.
Let’s find something fun which only we can do and send a message on our own initiative.
Thank you and see you next year.
We had a pleasant time. Yeah too pleasant and 月島 was so far from my house.
I missed the last train. 月島 is different from Atugi.
The pumpkin carriage leaves earlier than Atugi.
I'm thankful to my friend who put me up for the night. She is always kind to me.

Komatsu Stone

Today I saw The Pacific Ocean from an expressway.
Beautiful sea! It was shining! And blue sky!
I was likely to forget my job.

We are going to build a kind of bank in a small town at the end of Kanagawa.
There are many quarries of famous stone called Komatu-ishi.
So recently I'm always thiking about you.
Komatsu Stone.

How should I treat you?
You are a VIP in stone industry.
You are expensive.
You are not good at sunbathing.
If you get wet in the rain, you will change your expression.
You became famous for its durability as a gravestone or stone wall.
You've been always plain appeal.
But I want to show people your expression nobody knows.
I like your texture and variety of colors. You have a calm and poetic atomosphere.
You are delicate. If we slice you, you'll crack.
I have to treat you with especial care.

I want you become louvers of this building.
Probably you've never been a kind of louver.
You were always a gravestone or a wallstone or a flagstone.
But you will be reborn as a louver next summer.
I'm looking forward to seeing something new and beautiful.

But it's difiicult to plan and design for me.
If I fail, I can't get on Toukaido JR line because it will be built along the railroad tracks.
I don't want see my mistake from the train. Never.

Hello! Architects in the world.
How are you doing? What are you thinking? Aren't you sleepy?
Yeah, I'm exhausted from lack of sleep...

I want to be a tough person who has a clear brain.
I wish I could manage with only four hours of sleep and small plain dishes.
I want be a fuel-efficient car like a car made in Japan.
But I'm a gus guzzler has Mercedes engine.
Due to tireless spirits, our goals can be achieved.
Most success is gained through constant efforts.

Do I have sufficient stamina for this long marathon?
I asked you many times but you said nothing.
You are really quiet.
Komatsu Stone.

The Rolling Stones said “You can make it.”
Thanks Mick!

P.S.
Hey Yoshiko! You read my blog, didn't you?
You were a Berlitz student. Here is almost EAON area.
Will you be a spy?
NO! Leave your comment in ENGLISH.
And show me your Berlitz’s English!
